Imagine being on top of the world. Everything you ever dreamed of is now reality. After all those long years of struggling, failing, succeeding, blood, sweat and tears you finally made it.. Are you imagining it? Good, you’re starting to believe in yourself.
Believing in yourself isn’t something you do after you achieved something. It’s before. This counts for anything. Wether you want to get out of your depression or get that dream job, you can and will achieve it as long as you believe it. Because success is the journey not the end goal. Remember that.
See, the mind isn’t complicated, we make it complicated. Here’s the magic behind belief.
And before I start sharing with you my Wingardium leviosa, you know that I always like to add some extraness to my blog posts. I love to write in a metaphorical and philosophical way. That’s why this time I’m going to tell you this topic as a story instead of an article.
So, put on some Chillhop on the background
(not too loud, otherwise I have to scream this at you and I want to spare my voice so I can yell at my brothers) and enjoy the ride!
Embrace the process
Believing in yourself is like a sunflower. It all starts from the bottom (no Drake pun intended this time!) The lower leaf is belief. Wether you do something with it or not, it is already there. But of course you decide to do something with it because you got hopes and dreams. You want this leaf to grow into something beautiful and strong. So, you decide to water the sunflower a bit more and you put this belief to where it belongs – yourself. So far so good, nothing can break you.
But then, just when you thought that everything went nice and smooth, you notice that bad weather is on it’s way. Dark clouds start to appear all over the yard, it starts to rain and now it’s just one big mess. Your beautiful little sunflower got damaged before you could even see the end result. Your mind is now filled with doubt. All you can think about is: ”Screw this, I wasn’t going to see the beautiful yellow leafs of this flower anyway. My hard work has been wasted *insert GTA sound effect here*.
That’s the point when you decide to either quit or push through. You can rip the flower out of the ground but then it’s guaranteed that it will never grow. And that’s not what you want, right? You want a beautiful sunflower. So, I would suggest, to clean up the mess. Yes your fingers will get dirty, everything might get dirty, but you got to put in the work if you want to achieve something!
”What if I need to start from scratch” you think to yourself. Doubts are really doing there work up there in your head. They try to tare you apart, but something inside of you still believes you can do it. So you decide to not going to give up on this flower. Your neighbors are walking by laughing at how crazy you are for gardening in the rain. They shake their heads and scream:
”Just let it go honey, it’s just a stupid flower! You better get inside before you get ill. You don’t have to do this!”
They’re right, you don’t have to do it, for them. But oh boy, do you have to do it for yourself.
Once you overcome that struggle, you’ll enter the stage of strength. Mental strength. How cool is that, honestly!? And aye, let’s say that you didn’t clean up the mess. You weren’t in the mood, so you cried yourself to sleep. When you woke up the next day, you saw that it wasn’t that bad after all.
Yes, not everyone has the strength to directly take action and that is not a bad thing, in my opinion. If you need to take a break, then do so. It’s a positive thing to get your mind straight before taking action. Smart move, champ!
Dog poop & accomplishments
Everyday, you check on your sunflower. Some days it grows fast, the other days there’s no difference. The key to success now is to hold on to your patience. I know, it can be really frustrating sometimes, but it will all be worth it in the end, I promise!
A little doubt-leaf appears from time to time but you just splash some water on it. Yep, that’s right. My lesson to you is to not let it die. Because weirdly enough, it is what keeps you going. Here and there you get some help from a bee or two also known as the people who support you through thick and thin, me included.
On a calm, random Wednesday morning you wake up. With sleepy eyes, you get out of your bed and open your window. What do you see?
It’s your neighbors fighting over a dog that just pooped on the street.
You sigh and just when you’re about to turn around, you see your beautiful sunflower. Your eyes widen and you scream,”It’s fully grown!” You can not believe your eyes. It’s so tall, you can see the shades falling from behind. You are amazed by the bright yellow and green colors. You can’t believe you did it. You never thought you would make it to this day. But you did. Not because you kept going, but because you kept believing in yourself and because of that, you kept going.
And the funny thing is that the dog marked his spot right in front of your sunflower, but the neighbors were too busy complaining to even notice what was standing next to them. Your accomplishment. Oh well, they never believed in you anyway…
It all starts from within, ladies and gentlemen. That’s why on Good Vibes Boulevard we believe in conquering from within (and we also believe in ourselves, but I already made this joke in my story, and you know ya girl wants to stay original).
Long story short: In order to succeed, you must believe in yourself. It is a very powerful tool that can get you out of the deepest pit and bring you the most beautiful sunflower. Anyone has the power to believe in themselves. I know that you can achieve anything you want in life as long as you’re willing to believe in yourself and get through the process. And I don’t have to be a sigh kick to tell you that 😉
