So you want to make you life less shitty, more pretty? You want that million dollar home and summer body, Coachella goodness? But yet here you are working a 9 to 5 job, scrolling down your facebook feed not knowing what to cook for dinner!? Then, stop what you’re doing and look no further, because I have the secret for YOU!
Since I’m only 22 years old and basically just experiencing life while going through adulthood, there isn’t that much that I know about life. I still have a long way to go but, so far I have learned a couple of life lessons that inspired me enough to write an entire blog post about. And that life lesson is what the definition is of perfection.
We live in a time where we can find so many secrets about life, without even having to experience it ourselves. I mean, if I want to become successful in -basically anything- I just need to type in ”how to get successful” on Google and I’ll get a shit-ton of blog posts and YouTube-videos, telling me aaalllll the secrets that I need to know in order to achieve my goals and dreams.
While in reality folks, and I’m sorry to spoil it for you but, there is no secret.
There is no secret on how to achieve anything. Life is all about experiencing and finding your OWN way. And just because I did something that worked for me and hasn’t been talked about by others, still doesn’t count as secret.
You were born to be real, not perfect.
And I’m not saying that those people who share those ”secrets” are doing a bad thing, nope! I’m saying that instead of living by what others feed you, why not break free from your comfort zone and experience it yourself? See what works and what doesn’t, FOR YOU.
Our lives are all different from each other and therefor, my ”secrets” may not work for you. Does that mean you should give up on yourself or your dreams? No! it means that you should do what your heart told you to do in the first place:
Perfection is nothing but perspective
The subtitle already gives it away, but perfection, my friends is nothing but perspective. I mean, what is a perfect life, really?
Is it being populair? living healthy? living unhealthy? having 12 mil. followers on instagram? A fat bank account? Being in a ”couple-goals” relationship? Tell me.. What is the definition of PERFECTION in the 21st century?
Because I believe that no matter how ”not-perfect” your life may seem to society, or how much your choices doesn’t make any sense to others, it shouldn’t really matter. What matters is that at the end of the day you are be able to wake up in the morning, or look at yourself in the mirror and say: ”I live my life the way I want to and that to me is enough, flaws and all. That is my own perfection.”
You must understand that perfection is personal. Perfection is also the shitty things in life. Never forget that it is the imperfections that allows us to grow and makes us who we are. At the same time, this is also an explanation on how some people can look at negativity in a positive way.
There’s not a soul on earth that is perfect or has a perfect life. Unless for Charlie Hunnam, he’s perfect AF. Hehe, no, I’m just kidding, but I hope you get my point.
everything you choose to do in life, is your responsibility.
I think, that if you just embrace life as it is, and you live day by day, doing what you love and enjoy, with the people you love or by yourself, then that should be enough. No one has the right to tell you why you should or shouldn’t do this or that. That is your right and yours alone.
And of course, people warning you in the name of love and protectiveness is always good and important. We need those people in our lives. Everything has limits and you should always listen to your surroundings, but at the end of the day it is all about the choices that YOU make.
If there is one thing I’ve learned quickly in my early stages of adulthood it would be that everything you choose to do in life, is your responsibility.
You’ve got one life to live, one path to walk and one chance to experience what it has to offer you. Surround yourself with genuine people, do what makes you happy and don’t be afraid to live a little, my friend. For life is too short to live it by other people’s expectations.
