Positivity! Such a beautiful thing to fill the mind, body and soul with. Unfortunately there are a lot of people who struggle with being able to feel positive or to radiate positivity. And that’s why I’m going to shine some light on this today, ‘cuz baby, life is good and you deserve to experience that too.
I know what you’re thinking ”Damn Dounia, where the hell have you been!?” And in all honesty, I’ve just been living life, trying to make the best out of every day, and getting inspired. Inspired to live better and inspired to share my story with you guys.
I have several drafts that I’ve been working on for the past few weeks, but it just didn’t give me that ”oooohh that’s some deep shit” vibe, if you know what I mean?
But then, it hit me. I was at work all day, and after I came home I went for a walk in the park with my dog while I listened to a new episode of The Dolan Twins’ podcast Deeper with the Dolan Twins. They discussed several topics, but the one that really caught my attention was when they started talking about positivity and the importance of this energy.
I got hella inspired by it, and wanted to go even deeper
see what I did there 😛 into this because, let’s be real here, I have a blog called Good Vibes Boulevard, y’all know I’m a sucka for positive vibes! So buckle up peeps, we’re going to the bottom of this (ok i’ll stop the deeper references from now on, I promise ✌🏼😘)
Don’t get it twisted!
So a while back I discussed a similar topic to this called The Biggest Misconception About Positive People. If you haven’t read it yet, I suggest you should give it a try!
The thing with being positive is not that you’re never negative. It means that even if you are negative, you allow and accept the fact that you’re feeling that way, without losing losing that positive mindset. It’s still there, in the back of your head waiting for that alarm clock to go off and wake it up.
No one is always positive, that’s impossible. But you can always try to be and think rational and with that you’re able to find some perspective and take a look at the situation from a bigger point of view.
I think you’re familiar with the saying ”It’s a bad day, not a bad life”. Now, try to remind yourself of that when negativity seems to take over. I know it sounds cheesy, but it’s da truff!!
This is the way
If you’ve watched ”The Mandalorian” on Disney+
(not sponsored, I swear. I still have to wake up and get my ass to work to make the shmoney) you probably know what I’m reffering to in this subtitle, but if you haven’t, then let me explain it to you.
Without going too much into nerdy-detail, the saying ”This Is The Way” basically means that you practice and respect what you stand for. Let me elaborate on this a little bit.
Let’s just say you’re somewhere, can be anywhere, work, home, online (ooff, especially online), school, local coffee shop, and there’s a person who gets bullied. Now unfortunately there are a ton of reasons why people find the need to bully someone, but let’s just say it’s about their appearance.
Your homies throw insult after insult and you feel conflicted. Because you don’t want to put someone down, but…. your friends are your friends, right? And you’re not a backstabber! If this is the case (and again, this is just an example), let me remind you that you always have choice.
The fact that you feel conflicted is because it’s going against your nature to put someone down, it’s not the way. No one has the right to decide for you, so choose wisely.
If you’re backing up your friends then you will loose yourself, mate. Hell, you’ll probably be their next victim if you’re not careful, and is that really worth it? Dare to ask yourself what you will gain from being toxic and surrounding yourself with nothing but toxicity, constant self-pity and self-hate? Because hunny, that’s straight up misery /ˈmɪz(ə)ri/.
Instead, follow your way and stand up for what is right. Oh, your friends are going to ditch you for that? well fuck, let them! I mean, who wants to be friends with them anyway!?
You’ll be amazed on how many people are actually going to respect you for that, and how many will be inspired to do the same, and let’s not forget the person you helped!! You don’t have to be famous to make a difference. Stay close to yourself, boo, always.
Screw the beauty pageant, enter the mosh pit
Life is not a popularity contest, folks. Inner peace doesn’t come from having 1 billion kazillion friends, followers or likes. It comes from accepting reality, trying to make the best out of every situation, accepting bad days, not dwelling on the past and to respect, not just yourself but others around you too.
Become your own best friend first, and let life handle the rest.
You’ll be amazed on how much you will have in common with someone who’s not as popular or who’s always being picked on. We’re all human beings trying to find our way in the universe. Stop pretending to be happy if you’re not. Instead, take action and do something about it. Ask for help, guidance and allow yourself to be vulnerable because YES, vulnerability is STRENGTH. BUT, never let people take advantage of that.
Stop chasing that one second of satisfaction by putting someone down, only to feel even more depressed two minutes later. Screw the beauty pageant ”lifestyle”. Go enter that mosh pit. When someone falls down, you pick them the fuck up and enjoy the wild ride together. Because life is way too short to waste your time over stupid shit that won’t bring you any value and appreciation.
In life, energy is key. The energy that you vibrate can make or break a person, so choose wisely and never forget that,
